A community maintained database highlighting municipal utility boxes, centering them as positions of power within urban spaces. These structures maintain traditions of spatial marking and memorial, going back thousands of years to stelae and runes. Community members can document and add new utility boxes to a digital archive, marking location, shape, and writers. New boxes are illustrated in a broadsheet circular that is freely distributed in the same cities. The notion of public communication is further demonstrated through wheat pastings of empty municipal boxes, which form a more transient representaiton of public space that can inspire visual dialog between writers, artists, and average citizens, bringing “public voice” back to a public.
